Joe DiMaggio's Children Hospital - February 8, 2013
A small group from the Music Club and Salsa Club was able to go on a field trip to the Joe DiMaggio’s Hospital. On this day we were going to bring music and dance for the sick children at the hospital. We arrived at the hospital an hour after leaving the school and found a very nice hospital with a great welcoming staff. We were setting up while we waited for the children to arrive at the activity center. Slowly but surely the kids started strolling into the activity center. Some with smiling faces, some with their parents and other with their nurses and siblings. The first child who wanted to play was around 6 or 7 years old and he wanted to play with the microphone. He wanted everyone to join on a sing along of one of Justin Beavers’ songs. He got everyone clapping and singing. This helped our students feel more comfortable about being there. Soon enough we were all introducing each other and the performances started. Cesar started playing the guitar and singing a song. He was followed by Hannah also playing the guitar and singing a song. Others sang songs and played the synthesizer. The synthesizer was a hit; the kids loved playing with the keyboard. The parents were really thankful we had given them an hour of entertainment. We were able to put a smile on the sick children’s' faces at least for a little while. This trip was a true success and we will be visiting soon.
